-Simply Splendidly Married-

Evan and I have been married a little over a month! It’s been so fun and time just flies by. I am in school and Evan is working. Everyday is a new adventure and we are happy to be married. People told us that when you get married things stay busy. Well that’s very true! It doesn’t help that I am what some might call a clean freak! Evan the sweet husband he is must be about to break! I seriously don’t get how he does what he does he wakes up at 4:30 to go to work gets home just as I get home from school with a happy face and always asks “what can I help with”. Even if I say I’m good he finds things to do to calm my OCD. The best part of the day for me is seriously just lying in bed and talking to Evan. I think what means the most to me is that Evan is always willing to help me and in his eyes I am all that matters. I know that corny I know! But really I can see his love for me. It’s not just something he says he does it! He shows me he loves by playing slapjack with my nephew for the hundredth time.  Or letting me vent about the silly things that happen to me. But most of all he is patient with me. He knows how hard its been leaving home. He understands my pain and he still loves me in my “crazy” moments. So if you are thinking of marriage or dating I want to leave you with some advice.

The Blessing of Love

Have you ever felt like you knew someone so well and then you find out something new that you didnt know? And all the sudden you can look at them in a different light. I have been told from many people this is something that will continue to happen, as one gets older. This past year I found out how beautiful and kind Evan is. He is always willing to help. He loves my family and even more he loves my love for my family. When we started dating I made a list it was titled what I love about Evan. I know its cheesy but this list grows longer and longer. I have never met someone who is so willing and loving. I love this guy so much.

One thing I also learned this year is my sweet, beautiful sister is a poet and singer. Not to mention a great dancer and spunky personality to boot. Her poems are so deep and so heartfelt. I tease her that she could write songs and sing and be a big hit. But the thing is she really could! Its funny because I have wanted to be a beautiful singer and I have taken lessons and tried my hardest. It seriously makes me laugh that this talent I want and cant perfect my sister has. Whats funny is that she doesnt even understand how beautiful her voice is! I am so excited to get married but I must be honest and say I will miss the days when I could come home from a date and hear all about her drama and life. And then have her listen to my drama and life and give me some serious good advice! I have been truly blessed with a unique family that I love dearly.

Catching a Cab

A couple of weeks ago we went to Boston to support Missy's brother who ran in the Boston Marathon, which by the way he ran in a great time.  We got to do some cool stuff while we were there and saw a lot of things that you don't get to see in Utah.  The first night we were there we all went to a Boston Red Sox game.  Fenway Park is awesome and the game was fun.  It started to rain a little bit in the 7th inning and it was already a little cold so it was even colder once the rain came.  Missy was a good sport and we stayed until the beginning of the 9th inning before we left.  It wasn't until we tried to catch a cab that the real fun began.  There we quite a few people trying to catch a cab and we couldn't get one forever it seemed and being cold and wet and running around didn't help either.  We finially saw a cab that was stopped so we ran towards it and realized that it was pulled over by a cop ha ha.  So we were still on the hunt.  I thought that we should just stay and wait until the cop left and try to get that cab but we thought we saw other cabs stopped so we ran over there and they already had people in it so still we were on the lookout.  After a while we saw a police officer directing traffic so we asked him were to go and he pointed us down this street.  Well as we are walking some people get out of this cab so before I know it Missy is sprinting after this cab to try to get it and it drives off so Missy stops but wait the cab stops at the stop sign so before I can even blink Missy is half way down the street trying to get the cab drivers attention.  I started to run to catch up with Missy but she was too far ahead of me.  In my head I was thinking there is no way that she will catch that cab but I stood corrected.  She did catch the cab and  I still don't know were all of Missy's energy came from but holy cow she was hauling down that street.  We got in the cab soaking wet and were relieved to know we would be back at our hotel and be warm again.  That was just one of the many adventures of Boston and we had a really fun time.

No More Monkey

My mom hurt her leg the other day and my nephew Connor that we call monkey came to her aid with his tools! He walked in with his binky in his mouth and took out his hammer and went to “fix gamma”. We laughed and my mom suggested that he hit her head not the knee so she wouldn’t feel the pain. I look at my family and I think to myself how many times have I wanted to take out my hammer and “fix” their problems. I think to myself “If they would just do this or work on this they would be fine”. The thing about it is that they need that pain and I also need it. It’s a pain that makes me love deeper. I can talk to them and suggest all I want but when it comes down to it the best thing I can do is listen. Its sooo hard sometimes (especially because I love to talk) but sometimes listening to someone helps you understand what not only they need but you need also.

Funny Family Moments

Having nephew's and niece’s are fun. And some of my favorite moments are when I am spending time with my family. Today Evan and I were helping my nephew who is 2 get ready for bed. He hates lotion and honestly I don’t know why (I love it) but he was crying and then it was like BAM he stopped and said “topper does this” meaning my other nephew Copper puts lotion on as well. I told him yes and he said “otay” (okay) and was completely happy. We busted up laughing it was so funny. It also made me think that we (adults) do the same thing. When we see someone we care about or want to model do something we usually don’t do we seem to rethink, well I do at least and I do! Think I think it’s keeping an open mind!
