When it came to time to figure out how I was going to propose I wanted to think of something that would be romantic and at the same time a little surprising to her since she knew it was coming. This is how it all went down. We had been wanting to go to a place called "color me mine" where you can paint pottery for a long time. We were going to go there with her friend Emily and her boyfriend Patrick on a saturday so I thought of going there the following monday to make a plate that said Missy will you marry me. I had told a couple of people about my idea and they thought it was a good idea. Saturday morning Missy was telling me how she was having some dreams of how I was going to propose and one of them involved me painting a plate that said Missy will you marry me. I couldn't believe it. That was my idea that was going to surprise her and she had a dream about it. I told her that I was thinking about doing that but that I couldn't do it any more since it wasn't going to be a surprise. She still wanted me to do it but i wasn't so sure. I still ended up going the following Monday and made a platter with a poem that I had written and at the bottom of the platter it said Missy will you marry me.
The ring arrived Tuesday and I accidentally spilled the beans and Missy found out that I had the ring. We had plans with Emily and Patrick to go to dinner and pick up our pottery and I had told Emily to cancel the day of so Missy wouldn't be expecting anything. And we were going to go to my sisters surprise birthday party at 5:30 even though it was really at 7:30. I told her that we were all dressing up for the party so she needed to dress nice. On the way to my sisters house I turned into Tuscany. By then she had figured it out that I was going to propose. I had taken all of the flowers and the platter to Tuscany before I picked Missy up and this is how it went down. When we got our drinks the waitress brought out two dozen red roses. The waitress then brought out three dozen mixed roses. At desert the waitress, with some help, brought out another two dozen red roses with the platter that I had made with the ring box on top. I walked around the table while Missy was reading the poem and I grabbed the ring. By the time Missy was done I was on my knee and asked her to marry me. I'm not going to lie I did get a little teary eyed but I was able to control my emotions. The answer was YES! Missy had made me the happiest and luckiest man alive!! Missy was right, once we got into a relationship things did progress fast, which doesn't bother me. We are now getting things ready for the wedding. By the way Missy didn't think that I was going to make the platter so it was a nice surprise for her. Missy has been waiting for us to be engaged so she could start looking for a dress and doing all of the other planning. She can now do all the planning she wants. We are getting married August 6th 2010 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple! That is our story. I'm sorry if it was too long. It still seems like I left something out. I LOVE MISSY and I can't wait to marry her!!
Here is the poem that I wrote:
Give me your hand and I will hold it tight
Give me your hand and our love with reach new heights
Give me your hand and we can get lost in each others eyes
Give me your hand and I will give you a love that never dies
Holding your hand makes me feel as light as a feather
So give me your hand and our love will grow forever

Missy's Side
Evan did a great job telling his side, but it seems he is a little confused on some details. No worries I’ll clear things up! So when I first noticed Evan it was at church when he came up to me and asked for my number! I was excited however right after he asked he also explained that he was my home teacher! When I got home from church my dad said, “I saw a cute guy ask for your number.” And I said, “Yeah he is my home teacher!” He also never called because they changed the home teaching assignments. Then we were put on the activities committee together (I secretly wanted to be put on assignments with him). I always thought Evan was pretty good look-in but nothing ever came from it. At the activity in the summer at our cabin I beat Evan over and over at connect four. As we became friends and after some tennis lesson Evan gave me, we eventually became “more than friends”.
My family went out of town in one weekend and that’s when we had our first date. Everything went really smooth and seriously I know everyone says this but everything fit. We got along really well and our personalities seemed to work together. The more I got to know Evan the more I wanted to be around him. There was not an overwhelming feeling that I “knew” he was the one rather small confirmations like “Yeah thats what I need/want in a husband). We share a lot of the same views and Evan just seemed to know how help and comfort me.
When he first asked if we could take our relationship to the next level and I told him I was not ready he was very sweet and kind. The second time he said, “okay that’s fine but seriously if you don’t see this going anywhere let me know lets not waste our time.” He didn’t mean it to be rude he was just honest. And I honestly love that about him he stands up for what he wants and what he believes but isn’t overbearing about it.
I remember when we were just friends I asked if he could help me with some tennis and we were talking about people we have dated. Stories about first blind dates and what not and he said something that really showed character. He told me that he has never kissed a girl that he did not have feelings for. Evan really treated every girl with that respect. I have always felt respect and love from him. I am so blessed and honestly lucky to have Evan in my life. I am so excited to marry someone who cares for others and is such a hard worker. I could list many many great qualities he has (I actually have in my journal) but all in all I Love Evan!

Family Fun
FAMILY FUN
This weekend has been filled with family fun! It’s a good thing we enjoy each other’s family so much! Today we went and picked up some more things we made at color-me-mine. Evan and I went and painted things for each other last week with some of our friends. We got some good laughs about the things we made for each other. We also went to Tooth fairy with my (missy) family. We were a little late therefore we got third row seats. My nephew Mikey just loved it one “The Rock” was in it and two he got sour straws. That’s something we share a love for I love sour treats! Evan and I looked over at him and his face was glowing with big eyes and mouth open in awe. When the movie ended all he wanted was to go get a caramel apple. We were both disappointed when his mom said no! It was a great night and a fun filled family weekend!
wedding date
The Wedding Date
So we set our wedding date we have decided because of school the best time for us to get married would be in August therefore we have set the day August 6, 2010 we will be married in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Our Story
(According to Evan)
So we meet each other around december 2008 but we weren't really friends. We knew who each other were but we never did anything together. We happened to be on an activities committee and thats really how we meet. We got to know each other better during the summer of 2009 when we had an activity at Missy's cabin and we ended up getting to know one another a lot better. We played many games of connect four which were mostly won by me although Missy will tell you otherwise. We both thought that each other was cute but we couldn't really do anything about it at the time.
I always thought Missy was way cute but I wanted to date her even more once we started becoming better friends. We always had a good time together and so we were spending a lot of time together. We started dating each other shortly after that.
The first time we held hands or cuddled was on September 26th. It was after the U of U football game. I was going to go sit with her and her family towards the end of the game but it ended up not working out. But we had planned on hanging out after the game. I went to dinner with my friends and then I was going to meet her at her house. I got to her house and it was late so I tried calling instead of ringing the door bell and after waiting and calling for 15 minutes I decided to go home. Right when I got home she called and apologized because she had fallen asleep but she said I could still come over. And I'm glad that I did because that was when our relationship started to take a different turn. The next day we had our first kiss! I didn't take long until I was head over heels for Missy.
We saw each other pretty much every day even if it was for just 5 minutes. It wasn't even 2 months and I had asked Missy if she wanted to be in a "committed" relationship and she politely said that she wasn't quite ready for it for a few reasons. One was that once we were in a relationship things would progress really fast. Although it was kinda hard to swallow at first I understood and we still dated and still saw each other every day. So pretty much we acted like we were "together" but we didn't have the title. In December right before she went to Hawaii with her family for Christmas she said that she was ready to be in a relationship which made me way happy! I didn't want anyone else to have a shot with Missy! I wanted her all to myself and can you blame me?
We had talked about marriage and we both felt like we would get married eventually. So I started looking for rings while she was in Hawaii. She had explained to me the type of ring she would want. After explaining what Missy had told to the salesman they told me that the correct way to explain it would to say a split shank with a square halo and round center diamond with pavei on the bands. By the end of all the ring shopping I was able to explain just what I was looking for. When Missy got back she eventually decided to go with me to look for rings although she didn't want to. She was nervous going to the first place but after that she loved going! we found a ring that we both loved and made some minor changes to the setting. I wanted to make sure it was what she really wanted so I held buying it at first. Eventually we decided that it was the ring we both wanted. We had to order the ring in her size and it took 3 weeks to get here. It was torture waiting for it to get here! Missy was getting anxious and so was I. The ring eventually got here but the most important thing is that I am so happy that i found Missy and that she is in my life! She is my everything! I love her and want to be with her forever.
