When it came to time to figure out how I was going to propose I wanted to think of something that would be romantic and at the same time a little surprising to her since she knew it was coming. This is how it all went down. We had been wanting to go to a place called "color me mine" where you can paint pottery for a long time. We were going to go there with her friend Emily and her boyfriend Patrick on a saturday so I thought of going there the following monday to make a plate that said Missy will you marry me. I had told a couple of people about my idea and they thought it was a good idea. Saturday morning Missy was telling me how she was having some dreams of how I was going to propose and one of them involved me painting a plate that said Missy will you marry me. I couldn't believe it. That was my idea that was going to surprise her and she had a dream about it. I told her that I was thinking about doing that but that I couldn't do it any more since it wasn't going to be a surprise. She still wanted me to do it but i wasn't so sure. I still ended up going the following Monday and made a platter with a poem that I had written and at the bottom of the platter it said Missy will you marry me.
The ring arrived Tuesday and I accidentally spilled the beans and Missy found out that I had the ring. We had plans with Emily and Patrick to go to dinner and pick up our pottery and I had told Emily to cancel the day of so Missy wouldn't be expecting anything. And we were going to go to my sisters surprise birthday party at 5:30 even though it was really at 7:30. I told her that we were all dressing up for the party so she needed to dress nice. On the way to my sisters house I turned into Tuscany. By then she had figured it out that I was going to propose. I had taken all of the flowers and the platter to Tuscany before I picked Missy up and this is how it went down. When we got our drinks the waitress brought out two dozen red roses. The waitress then brought out three dozen mixed roses. At desert the waitress, with some help, brought out another two dozen red roses with the platter that I had made with the ring box on top. I walked around the table while Missy was reading the poem and I grabbed the ring. By the time Missy was done I was on my knee and asked her to marry me. I'm not going to lie I did get a little teary eyed but I was able to control my emotions. The answer was YES! Missy had made me the happiest and luckiest man alive!! Missy was right, once we got into a relationship things did progress fast, which doesn't bother me. We are now getting things ready for the wedding. By the way Missy didn't think that I was going to make the platter so it was a nice surprise for her. Missy has been waiting for us to be engaged so she could start looking for a dress and doing all of the other planning. She can now do all the planning she wants. We are getting married August 6th 2010 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple! That is our story. I'm sorry if it was too long. It still seems like I left something out. I LOVE MISSY and I can't wait to marry her!!
Here is the poem that I wrote:
Give me your hand and I will hold it tight
Give me your hand and our love with reach new heights
Give me your hand and we can get lost in each others eyes
Give me your hand and I will give you a love that never dies
Holding your hand makes me feel as light as a feather
So give me your hand and our love will grow forever
